Shipping policy

We ship to selected destinations around the world. Shipping options, costs and delivery times vary depending on your destination.

Australia

All Australian orders are dispatched via Australia Post and leave our warehouse within 1–2 business days (usually quicker!).

Parcel Post: Flat rate of $9.95 (Free for orders over $149).
Express Post: Rates calculated at checkout based on weight and destination. Note: Express may be unavailable for heavy or bulky items.
Tracking: All orders include end-to-end tracking. You will receive a tracking number via email as soon as your order is dispatched.

Biosecurity Note: Due to strict state regulations, we cannot ship Potting Mixes to WA, NT, or TAS, and Seeds cannot be shipped to WA.

New Zealand

All orders to New Zealand are shipped via Australia Post and delivered locally by NZ Post.

Shipping: Flat rate of $12.95 (Free over $199).
Dispatch: 1–2 business days.
Delivery Estimate: 4–7 business days.
Tracking: Your Australia Post tracking number will work on both the AusPost and NZ Post websites once the parcel reaches New Zealand.

Taxes & Duties: For orders under $1,000 NZD, no import duties or extra GST are typically collected on arrival for Australian exports. These charges are the responsibility of the receiver should they occur.

Please note: Due to strict biosecurity regulations, we do not ship seeds or organic fertilisers to New Zealand.

United States

All orders to the United States are dispatched via Australia Post and delivered locally by USPS.

Shipping: Calculated at checkout based on weight.
Dispatch: 1–2 business days.
Delivery Estimate: 6–12 business days.
Tracking: Your Australia Post tracking number will work on both the AusPost and USPS websites once the parcel reaches the US.

Taxes & Duties: All orders are sent Delivery Duty Paid (DDP). This means all import tariffs and taxes are handled by us—the price you see at checkout is the final price, with no additional fees upon delivery.

Please note: Due to strict international biosecurity regulations, we do not ship seeds or organic fertilizers to the US.

United Kingdom

All orders to the United Kingdom are shipped via Australia Post and delivered locally by Royal Mail.

Shipping: Calculated at checkout based on the weight of your order.
Dispatch: 1–2 business days.
Delivery Estimate: 6–12 business days.
Tracking: Your Australia Post tracking number will work on both the AusPost and Royal Mail websites once the parcel reaches the UK.

Taxes & VAT: Please note that UK VAT (20%) and a Royal Mail handling fee are typically collected by UK Customs before delivery. As an Australian small business, we do not collect these taxes at checkout; they are the responsibility of the receiver.

Please note: Due to biosecurity regulations, we do not ship seeds or other organic products internationally.

Canada

All orders to Canada are shipped via Australia Post and delivered locally by Canada Post.

Shipping: Calculated at checkout based on the weight of your order.
Dispatch: 1–2 business days.
Delivery Estimate: 7–12 business days.
Tracking: Your Australia Post tracking number will work on both the AusPost and Canada Post websites once the parcel reaches Canada.

Taxes & Duties: For orders over $20 CAD, Canada Post may collect local sales taxes (GST/HST) and a handling fee before delivery. These charges are the responsibility of the receiver.

Please note: Due to strict international biosecurity regulations, we do not ship seeds or organic fertilizers to Canada.

Hong Kong

All orders to Hong Kong are shipped via Australia Post and delivered locally by Hongkong Post.

Shipping: Calculated at checkout based on the weight of your order.
Dispatch: 1–2 business days.
Delivery Estimate: 4–7 business days.
Tracking: Your Australia Post tracking number will work on both the AusPost and Hongkong Post websites once the parcel reaches Hong Kong.

Taxes & Duties: Hong Kong is a free port. There are typically no import duties, GST, or VAT collected, regardless of the order value.

Please note: Due to international biosecurity regulations, we do not ship seeds or organic fertilizers to Hong Kong.

Singapore

All orders to Singapore are shipped via Australia Post and delivered locally by Singapore Post (SingPost).

Shipping: Calculated at checkout based on the weight of your order.
Dispatch: 1–2 business days.
Delivery Estimate: 4–7 business days.
Tracking: Your Australia Post tracking number will work on both the AusPost and SingPost websites once the parcel reaches Singapore.

Taxes & Duties: For orders under $400 SGD (including freight), no GST or duties are typically collected on arrival (as Backyard Botanist is an Australian-based small business). For orders over $400 SGD, Singapore Customs may collect a 9% GST and a processing fee before delivery. These charges are the responsibility of the receiver.

Please note: We do not currently ship seeds or organic fertilizers to Singapore due to biosecurity regulations.
